We all know the feeling of sending a risky text. And texting someone you’re into them is definitely something we consider a risky text. Maybe even more when you’re only twelve years old. This woman’s daugther decided to text the boy she likes and remains extremely calm. Her mother on the other hand… not so much. And Twitter feels some type of way about it.
1. The mother of the twelve-year-old started the story with this tweet.

2. We must give the girl some credit for this.
She says she’s not fussed either way what he replies, if he does, because he’s a nice guy anyway and she knows it’s not a reflection of her worth.
OH MY GOD I HAVE RAISED THE KID I WISH I’D BEEN 🥺

3. You can almost feel her nerves through the screen.
2.5 hours. Who doesn’t look at their phone in 2.5hrs? Clearly not me.

4. And clearly, this mother is way more nervous than her daughter is.
I need to go to the supermarket but what if he replies while I’m gone and I don’t get to update you all in real time?
Forget it. I need to go to the shops. I need wine.

5. And her friends need to know too.
I’m providing this service on two other apps too. My friends need to know, goddammit. pic.twitter.com/q06buqKIqF

6. Resolvement face to face?
I’m a bit nervous that so many of you are following this story and the resolution is taking too long. Unlike my books I have zero control over this MCs love interest. What if he ignores his phone all weekend? What if this has to be resolved face to face Monday? Hold tight… pic.twitter.com/EhiBwoY15L

7. She then shares that her daughter called the boy.
OK, she was so sick of waiting she decided to CALL HIM (the nerve!) and check if his phone was off. Readers, it wasn’t.
After two rings it connected and she dropped the phone in shock. Was it him? The message has still not been read. It has now escalated to another level… pic.twitter.com/oLHOScfvy6

8. And finishes off by tweeting there’s no reply still.
No reply yet. Received but not read. I can’t take it.

9. Many people aren’t very pleased with her actions.
You represent everything I do not want to be when I’m your age.

— wallabytea 🦘🍵 (@wallabytea) March 27, 2021
Yeah I remember being 12 and wishing an incredibly intrusive parent would live-tweet my first forays into romance.

10. And others just enjoy the story and want to know what happens next.
You have a new follower- I need to know how it ends!!!

12. And we have to wait some more.
He said:
Wow
Let me think about itShe said:
Sure. Np.OK, that’s fine. We respect someone who thinks before they speak and doesn’t ghost and is polite.
This may end a bit ambiguously but hopeful.

13. But luckily, end good all good.
OK. Final update…
He likes her too. Said what a relief it was to be able to say that to her, but not to tell everyone at school yet.
