1. Het begint allemaal met deze tweet.

2. Hier gaan je wenkbrauwen toch van fronzen?
I got reported for having aggressive eyebrows by the nurse whose patient I was reviewing at 5am. Apparently it was a perfectly lovely review, but I was hard to take seriously as a doctor.

3. Een woordenboek is geen slecht idee.
I was told off for using a word in a report that my boss didn’t know (“minutiae”). I asked her to give me a list of all the words she didn’t know so that it wouldn’t happen again.

4. Meegaan met je tijd noemt men dat.
New boss asked me to cut & paste some info in a Word document & was aghast when I did so using the, er, cut & paste function. Swore at me, then made me print the doc out, cut it up with a pair of scissors to move paragraphs around & then re-type it from scratch in the new order.

I asked like 3 months in advance to take a day off to attend MY OWN graduation ceremony from college. And the day before the ceremony, I was told by my ex-boss that if I took the day off, not to bother coming back. So yeah: here’s a picture of me in my graduation. pic.twitter.com/icS4lhDvUn

Telling a customer what time we closed at. The company owner felt this was classified information that could be used for a robbery. I wish I was making this up.

Having a baby on New Year’s Day, whilst on Maternity Leave, and not informing the head of the school I was working in immediately about the birth. I received a formal written warning by recorded delivery post on the morning of 4th January (first day of the school term). Do I win?

8. Karma is een …..
Started working in a warehouse. Had zero training on the pallet truck they had and my manager caught me struggling to use it.. he screamed in my face that I was “the dumbest person he’d ever met” he started to show me how to use it and rammed it into a wall

I wrote *NB – PLEASE READ* in an email subject to a bunch of people in science and was called up for using offensive language to staff members, because one of them thought I meant “No Bulls***” and not “Nota Bene”, the literal abbreviation for “note this well”.

I got devoured for multiplying numbers in my head instead of using a calculator because I was “showing off” 🤷♂️😄

Solving a big problem at work, but I didn’t tell my boss how I came up with the solution. When he presented to his bosses, he felt embarrassed he could not answer how HE came up with the idea and HAD TO give up the credit

12. Note to self: Een banaan eten maakt mensen oncomfortabel?
I got told off for eating a banana. I wasn’t eating it inappropriately, it was just inappropriate that I was eating a banana around a male colleague… 🙄

As a young postman in the 1970s I got reprimanded and sent home at 3.30 in the morning for wearing trainers. I had to change into proper boots. The supervisor who sent me home was my dad, who had taken me to work in his car. I had to walk home and back.

14. Sprintje naar het koffiezetapparaat.
Guy I worked with got called in by head of department to be told he walked too slowly, & it gave the impression of not wanting to be there
He asked if they‘d like him to walk around like another guy who rushed everywhere, & they said no, because he looked like he was in a panic

15. Tenslotte, spant deze wel echt de kroon.
When I worked in Lidl, I got told by the manager that I “wasn’t hired to think.” I asked him if he meant it and he said yes. From that day on I asked what needed to be done every single time. It drove him mad, but when he told me off for it I told him “I wasn’t hired to think…”
